A shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 5/32 (2.94cm) blazoned as follows: Per fess indented Argent and Verta chief dancetty Celeste; overall a vertical cautery in pale and throughout Sable, entwined by a serpent Murrey Attached below the shield a maroon scroll inscribed with EXPERT LOYAL READYin silver.



Symbolism

The colors and division of the shield resembles forested and snow-capped mountains with a brilliant blue sky, portraying the Cheyenne Mountains where Fort Carson is located. Additionally, the white snowcaps are emblematic of teeth and a particular dental procedure which alludes to the Dental Health Activity. The caduceus is symbolic of medical expertise and the cautery in place of a staff denotes the dental field. Silver metal is associated with sterility and precision and further emphasizes medical tools and equipment.
